WHAT DOES TRAINING INVOLVE?
There are four main steps to becoming HGV Qualified:
Register
We want to make the training process as smooth and efficient as possible for you, so registration can begin as simply as giving us a call and speaking to one of our agents about the right course for you.
Medical Assessment
This simple medical assessment is to ensure that you are physically fit to be a HGV driver, it will involve hearing and eyesight tests, as well as a general look at your medical history.
Theory
The theory portion of HGV training involves learning about the additional regulations and safety checks that come with driving a HGV, as well as general road safety. The test generally consists of multiple-choice questions and a hazard perception test – this format is similar to a regular driving test!
Practical
Gaining hands on driving practice in a variety of conditions is a key aspect of HGV training, this will help prepare and supply you with the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified HGV driver.
Some ongoing training of 35 hours every 5 years is also required to ensure that you stay up to date with current standards and to keep your CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) up-to-date.
UK HGV training courses will ensure you have all the knowledge, skills and confidence you need to pass the required tests and gain your qualification, with courses tailored to suit you.
